With approximately 2,5 million inhabitants, Belo Horizonte  is the capital of Minas Gerais State, the 6th largest city in the country is also known as the first modern planned city in Brazil.

Minas Gerais is famous for having the most traditional Cachaça (Brazilian sugar cane distilled spirit) and a typical Brazilian cuisine (also known as “culinária mineira”), which is now spread all over Brazil. It is also famous for having the best pão de queijo, the traditional Brazilian cheese bread.

Furthermore, Minas Gerais  had a GDP of 206,5 million USD in 2012. The state has a well developed industrial sector and BH was famous for being traditionally a HUB of siderurgical and metallurgical companies. Moreover, it hosts a large number of multinationals and Brazilian companies. Currently, the service sector plays a critical role, being responsible for almost 85% of the city’s GDP.
